Technology and Palliative Care Research

Special Interest Group

The Technology and Palliative Care Research Special Interest Group was established in February 2024 by AIIHPC for Palliative Care Research Network (PCRN), Early Career Researcher Forum (ECRF), and Voices4Care (people with lived experience of palliative care, carers, family members, and those with an interest in palliative care) members. Members include people with backgrounds and experience in academia, nursing, medicine, pharmacist, art therapist, social worker, chaplain, patient/carer/public involvement. The group meets online on a quarterly basis to discuss research priorities, opportunities and ongoing projects.  The group is chaired by Dr Frances Cleary, Fellow and Member of Faculty of Nursing Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, South East Technological University, and co-chaired by Professor Mary Lynch, Faculty of Nursing, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

The group’s current focus areas include:

  • Remote home care ‘Patient in the Home’
  • Health and well-being technologies
  • Education and awareness of current and emerging technologies
