The Early Career Researcher Forum (ECRF) was launched by AIIHPC in 2013, and has over 287 members, providing them with opportunities to access peer and mentor support, develop links with senior researchers, participate in capacity building workshops, and share knowledge across disciplines.
The Forum, which is multidisciplinary in nature, is central to the Institute’s aim of fostering a strategic approach to palliative care research and knowledge development on our shared island. ECRF members come from over 60 different academic, clinical, charity, service provider, and regulatory organisations on the island of Ireland who are interested in palliative care research. The Institute supports the ECRF by facilitating national and international collaboration, capacity building, and knowledge transfer. We provide monthly updates to members on funding and career development opportunities, along with upcoming events and recent publications.
We welcome researchers to join and benefit from this collaborative community of peers. The ECRF is open to anyone based on the Island of Ireland who is interested in palliative care research. Membership is diverse and includes researchers, health and social care professionals, and policy makers from any discipline who consider themselves in the early to mid-stages of their research career within palliative and end of life care. (They may be senior researchers within other areas.)
For further information about the Forum please contact Jane Clare, AIIHPC PCRN Project Manager at jclare@aiihpc.org.

‘The ECRF provides a supportive space for researchers at the start of their careers to connect with like-minded individuals, foster collaborations and celebrate achievements. As a member you will have access to a range of learning opportunities including free webinars, conferences, podcasts and blogs. It is also a platform for skill development and confidence building, with chances to actively participate by presenting webinars or contributing blog posts’
– Stephanie Crawford, Chairperson ECRF Steering Committee
This Committee in collaboration with AIIHPC is responsible for agreeing the overall aims, objectives, and key outcomes for the Forum in consultation with ECRF members, alongside developing a research capacity building activities plan. The Committee meets quarterly.
